Now Moses, tending the flock of his father-in-law Jethro, the priest of Midian, drove the flock into the wilderness, and came to Horeb, the mountain of God.

2. Explanation

  • Reuel was now his father in law
  • He replaced Reuel's daughter's role in the family.
  • He lead the sheep into the desert–he came to gods mountain. Also known as:
    • Mount sinai
    • Mountain of god
    • Horeb

2.1. Commentary

Reuel is wealthy–He has many sheep

2.1.1. Why lead them to the desert?

  • Moses takes them far away to a different desert so the sheep do not steal other's crops. Theres no cities in the desrt.

2.1.2. "On gods hill"

This is foreshadowing–moses will lead the jews to recieve the torah like he did with the sheep
