Virtual Memory

1. When the system runs out of Primary Storage(RAM), it uses a portion of secondary storage (SSD/HDD) as virtual memory, also called swap space.

  • Prevents crashes when RAM overflows
  • Is much slower than actual RAM
    • Can cause lag when overused
