- It was developed by the ancient sumarians in anceint mesopotamia in 3300 BCE.
- Using soft clay tablets, they inscribed marks into them and dried them in the sun.
- Various types of cuneiform scripts were chiseled onto stone surfaces
2. Cuneiform was adopted by other societies
- Cuneiform was adopted by the babylonians to create akkadian
- Cuneiform signs were used for hundreds of years before they were replaced by other languages like aramiac and Greek
- This was a form of hieroglyphs
3. Proto-Cuneiform
- Proto-cuneiform was a form of cuneiform that was easier to write–Similar to how the chinese simplified their hieraglyphs
