- We watched a video on reconciliation
- We learnd about powwows
- In powwows, they dance, seell stuff …
- In their ritual dances, they wear regalia
- Indigenous people mostly settle in reserve
- We can find places that belong to the aboriginal groups by looking for regions that are highlighted
1.1. Truth & Reconciliation
- Reconciliation means to restore friendly relatons
- There are lots of commisions/efforts to reconcile with the indigenous
- Non-indigenous people harmed aboriginals
- They harmed & segregated them
1.1.1. There are two types of reconciliation
- Government Reconciliation
- When the government acknowledges the countries wrongdoings and makes an effort to stop them
- Stephen harper did this with his speach at the house of commons in 2008
- Indigenous communities said that an apology without action is not enough
- When the government acknowledges the countries wrongdoings and makes an effort to stop them
- Individual Reconciliation DRAFT
- Individuals learn about what happened and are educated about it
- They participate in activism and support their local community
