five skandhas(aggregates)
* philosophyThese are the components that create the illusion of a seperate "I". They are all impermanent and constantly in flux.
1. Form(Rupa)
This includes the body, senses, and all material things. Its the tangible part of our existence
2. Feelings(Vedana)
This is the mental and emotional experience of pleasure, pain, or neutrality that arises from contact with the world
3. Perceptions (Sanna)
This refers to the way we recognize and label things. For example recognizing a sound as "music" or a feeling as "sadness"
4. Mental Formations (Sankhara)
This is the most complex group, it includes our thoughts, intentions, habits, and volitional actions. Its the active conditioning part of the mind
5. Consciousness (Vijnana)
This is the awareness that perceives the other four skandhas. Its the simple act of knowing that something is present
