1. Many arabs who fought against the turks wanted an indepdent state.
- To reward the arab leaders and prevent the french from expanding their influence in the region, the british created an entirelhy new region known as transjordan.
- This reduced historic palestine by 80% in size.
- many jews were upset that the british had reduced the land that they had palnned for their state and given a large piece to the arabs.
