1. Pollution is when harmful contaminants(Pollutants) are released into the environment

  • Pollution has a large impact on biodiversity

1.1. Examples

1.1.1. Acid precipitation

Acid precipitation is when rain that has been made more acidic than usualy by the combination of certain chemicals in the air with water vapour As rivers and lackes become more acidic, species decline in numbers and may dissapear. Organisms have a specific range for the how acidic the water gets before it damagers them. It threatens long term sustainability of ecosystems. Also, it impacts hmans by dissolving concrete, accelerating the corrosion of metals, and causing respiratory problems

  • Oil Spills
  • Plastics

1.1.2. Atmospheric Pollution(Air Pollution)

  • Human activities can influence atmosphere composition primarily by increasing gasses like carbon dioxide(CO2), methane(CH4) through combustion, deforestation, and agriculture. The gasses trap heat, creating a "greenhouse effect"

2. Bioaccumulation

  • Bioaccumulation is the buildup of toxins in a single organism over its lifetime.
  • As we travel across trophic levels, the level of otxins in an organism usually increases. This happens because the secondary consumers can only eat animals that already have toxins. This is called bioamplification

3. Stewardship

  • Stewardship is the practice of taking responsibility for sustainability

3.1. Examples

  • Cleaning the environment/discarding waste
  • Recycling
