1. Jeremiah is known for his expressions of grief and lament.

  • He was born in a priestly family
  • He openly shared his suffering, doubts, pains, and struggles with god–He preached destruction and exile. This contributed to his unpopularity.
  • His Book of lamentations is read on the 9th of av
  • Some prophets supported rebellion and sometimes they didnt Jeremiah did not support the revolt, but the Zealots did.
  • He was jailed for imploring Matania-Zedekiah not to revolt
  • After the destruction of the temple, he wrote letters toe exiled Jews and told them to keep pushing for a community in babylon
  • He was the last prophet to prophesize in israel
