וַיִּגְדַּ֣ל הַיֶּ֗לֶד וַתְּבִאֵ֙הוּ֙ לְבַת־פַּרְעֹ֔ה וַֽיְהִי־לָ֖הּ לְבֵ֑ן וַתִּקְרָ֤א שְׁמוֹ֙ מֹשֶׁ֔ה וַתֹּ֕אמֶר כִּ֥י מִן־הַמַּ֖יִם מְשִׁיתִֽהוּ׃ When the child grew up, she brought him to Pharaoh’s daughter, who made him her son. She named him Moses, explaining, “I drew him out of the water.”
2. Explanation
- After the child grew up, miriam borught him to pharoahs daughter. And she adopted him and named him moses.
- He was called moses from the word "משיתיהו" that means to 'take out of'. Because she took him out water
- Hazkuni says that he was called moses because the jews were 'taken out' of egypt.
