- She made a basket out of reeds and sealed the inside with clay and outside with tar. She put clay on the inside so the smell wouldnt bother him

- Pharoahs daughter asked miriam to bring a woman–His mother who was capable of feeding him
- Miriams daughter was in her peak form. She ran really fast because she was excited as she succeeded in her mission of keeping the baby alive

- Pharoahs daughter tells miriam to feed him. She acccepts her offer
- Miriam takes him to yochebed so he could be nursed
- Miriam would be rewarded for this
- Her rebellion against her father reveals her strong character. She decided to care about the baby even though pharoah didnt

- After moses grew up miriam took him to pharoahs daughter who adopted him and named him moses because she 'took him out' of the water.
- Hazkuni says that he was called moses because the jews were taken out of 'egypt.

- Moses was in the palace when he saw an egyptian beating a jew. He was devastated and took it to heart.

- Moses was devastated. He understood the cruelty of the supervisor. He made a careful and calculated strike when nobody was looking(מסתכל)
- He made the stirke out of brotherhood for his jewish brothers and to maintain justice(אחווה, צֶדֶק)

- He saw two jews fighting outside and asked the agressor why he was htting his brother.
- He was shocked when he saw them fighting but not as pushed to act as before. These people fighting each other are datan and avram. Who complained against moshe many times
- The minute someone lifts a hand against another jew, he is considered evil.(מרים יד נגד)

- The aggressor asks moshe who is he to judge and if she should kill him like he killed the egyptians.
- Moshe was scared because people knew what he did yesterday
- He understands now why the jews are being punished–they are infighting (-נלחמים בינם לבין עצמם)

- Pharoah found out about what moshe did and wants to kill him
- Moshe fled to a well because it was a central place. He went there to meet many people and gather information(לאסוף מידע).
- He also went to the well because this whas where his great-grandfather jacob stopped when he fled from esau

- The leader of midian–ruel has 7 daughters and 0 male children
- He is the religious leader of midian
- The sisters provide for the family
- They come to the well with a bucket tied to a string and fill it up so the sheep can drink
- And the shepherd men come early and they push the girls away
- In midian, women are below men(נשים מתחת לגברים)
- Moses witnesses this and pushes the shephards away and waters the sheep because he cannot stand what the shepherds did(משקה את הכבשים)

- The women come early from the well. Their father expected them to come bak later because they had to wait for the shepherds to finish
- Their father is ruel. the leader of midian
- Because of moses' help, they came back earlier because moses stopped the shephereds and watered their animals
18. Meaning of Shemot 2:19
- They told ruel there was an egyptian man who rescued them from the shepherds and watered their sheep
- They assumed(הניחו) he was egyptian because egypt was close and he was dressed like an egyptian
19. Meaning of Shemot 2:20
- Ruel asks them why they left him. He wants to bring him to eat
- He wants to do the mitzvah of recognizing good
- He wants to marry off one of his daughters too
- Ruel says that moses' story of helping them at the well reminds him of the story of jacob, and is dissapointed at the missed opprotunity to meet a relative of jacob.

- Moses agreed to sit in ruel's house and he broguht his daughter tziporah to moses.
- He swears to bless ruel and his family

- The king of egypt dies and the israelites were tired of the labor and they screamed to god and he heard htem

- Moses is obligated to help the jewishpeople They need salvation
- When pharoah killed the baby boys, he took some of their blood to shower. He died because he ordered every baby boy to be killed

- GOod heard their suffering and remembered the covenant and realized it was time to forgive them.
