Moses went back to his father-in-law Jether and said to him, “Let me go back to my kinsfolk in Egypt and see how they are faring.” And Jethro said to Moses, “Go in peace.”
2. Explanation
After the Argument Between God and Moses. God and moses are done talking. He goes back to Reuel(Jether) in Midian and asks to see his brothers in egypt. He finally believes god.
2.0.1. Commentary
- Why did he go back to Reuel instead of going straight to Egypt?
He promised to say. He went to ask for permission. This reveals something about moses' character: honesty. He feels obligated to tell Reuel what he is doing.
Another character trait we see is Loyalty. He refuses to leave his brothers in Egypt behind.
Reuel is impressed. As a religious person, he also values loyalty and honesty. He tells him to go visit his brethren and blesses him.
