Avijja (Ignorance)
* philosophy1. Avidya is the root cause of all Dukkha ( Suffering)
Its specfiically defined as the ignorance of the four noble truths and the The three marks of existence. It is the fundamental ignorance that:
- Misunderstands Anatta(No-self): It leads to the false belief in a permanent, independent self, fueling the ego's desires and aversion
- Ignores Anicca(Impermanence): It causes us to cling to things that are constantly changing. leading to the pain of loss and dissapointment
- Fails to grasp the nature of suffering Dukkha ( Suffering) It keeps us in a cycle of craving and dissatisfaction.
Its not just about not knowing, but wrongly knowing.
The greatest obstacle to enlightenment is the belief that one is not enlightened
